Feb 8, 2009. #1. Having just fitted a new ECU and coils I need to be sure which HT Leads go to which coils t. erminals, I have read the listings and find conflicting results for cylinders 1 and 4. Help please.or does it make any didifference?as long as 1 and 4 go to rear coil and 2 and three goto front coil,thanks.

Ive fitted a mk1 Sporting engine to a Mk2 Sporting and fitted a fly by wire Bravo engine to a cable throttle Bravo, twice. Its far easier to fit the newer engine into the older car. Swap the studs in the manifold. Use the cat with the newer engine and plug up the down stream sensor. Make a plate for the cam sensor.

Refering to the diagram above, when the left hand coil fires, plugs 2 and 3 both spark at the same time, one on compression stroke and one on exhaust stroke. The spark on exhaust stroke is "wasted" and doesn't contribute anything to engine power. Same explaination for the right hand coil but substitute 1 and 4. Dave.
The gearbox oil should be at the Cold level, if the car's not been driven very recently; or at Hot, if it has. It should also look 'clean'. If dirty, or below the C level, the gearbox oil and gearbox filter will need replacing.
