Like you, I had also put in 4.5 qts to get to the full mark after letting the oil drain for at least 15-20 minutes. However, after leaving it sit overnight, and randomly checking it again over the next few weeks I found it is now a little overfull. I guess it takes a good while for all the residual oil to drain down into the pan on this engine..

The engine oil filling quantities depend on the design of the respective engine. For example, in a VW Tiguan 1.4 TSI 110 kW Bj 09/2007 - 07/2018, 4 litres of oil fit into the engine. In contrast, with a VW Tiguan Allspace 2.0 TSI 4motion Bj 03/2017 with 137 kW it is 5.7 litres. The Tiguan engines are all roughly within that range. Across the different 2015 Volkswagen Jetta trims 3 different oil types are used, click below to learn more along with the volume/capacity: Jetta 1.4 TSI Expand. Jetta 1.4 TSI Hybrid, 163 Expand. In practise, and with a new empty filter fitted, I've found that about 3.5 litres in total is required. Incidentally, that's a figure from memory. And it's for my 1.2 TSI engine. For a 1.4 engine, you'd doubtless need more. What I tend to do is use the graduations on the oil container as a guide and put, firstly, about 2.5 litres in.

The 2016 VW Jetta 1.4 TSI has an oil capacity of 4.2 US quarts, which includes the oil filter. We recommend purchasing a one-gallon jug of oil and an additional quart to ensure you have enough oil for a complete fill. This will give you a bit of leeway in case you need a little extra. As for the cost of synthetic oil, it should not exceed $30
