Bannerlord really needs messengers. Maybe that's just me, but roaming for WEEKS only to find the desired noble locked in a dungeon doesn't seem befitting for a king ruling half Calradia. You should be able to send companions with a message to nobles to either : rely on him for negotiations or inquire a meetup to settle the business.
The garrison is mostly troop storage rather than for defense. Hopefully later we'll be able to boost food production more. So it might be a good idea to store the higher tier troops in the castles so 60-80 equal 150 level 3 or 4 troops. Also running into this issue.. except I can only store 80 troops.

In order to found a kingdom, I need 100 Troops, Clan Tier 3, I need to be independent and own a settlement. I fulfill the first three, but how do I get a settlement without starting a war with a kingdom or entering ones service?

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. Getting first settlement. I'm trying to get my first settlement, but everytime I lay siege, the faction sends an army of 500+ soldiers to my location since my speed of building siege-camp/equipment isn't that fast. That's also the reason why I can't finish any equipment. .
